Travelers.

MyHospital, like others in its system, decreased traveler pay by $3 an hour and by $500/month for housing.

It is offering $23 - $25/hr base for ICU travelers.

I mean....WOULD YOU?

There is little point in addressing this at NPC, as every hospital in our system in our state is offering same. They want to cover the shortage with the "super float pool" of ICU/ER RNs who cover our system. This sounds like an interesting idea, and we were still short tonight. Do that math.

Colorado can do this because people come here because it's Colorado. So you out-of-towners, stay home. It sucks here. Go away. Did we mention the four feet of snow in 24h blizzard? Go away. You don't want to come. We have....we have. What do we have? We have horrible drivers in ton+ SUVs that are perpetually clean. Stay away. They're like locusts. Those people just can't steer.

I might go to Hawaii for no money, but I surely won't be heading to Colorado for less than a new grad is making on the East Coast. I reckon you'll be working short a mite longer.

In Madison, Wi. St. Mary's Hospital is paying new grads: $27.58 an hour.
Now if you were lucky and you got into a nursing program (there is actually a 3 year waiting list here in Wisconsin) and you could graduate at lets say 22 years of age. You would be making $55,000 a year with benefits. Not bad for a pubescent sentient being!

Sounds like they are slitting their own throats. I make $39/hour base as an ICU staff nurse and with my differential is is $66/hr and some change

I just moved from Colorado as a traveler. Came for the mountains, not for the money. And at 24/hr, I won't be going back. I'd be making more than that back in Ontario...and that's social medicine.

Talk about shooting themselves in the foot.

Good luck to you.
